Import & Export Code – IEC India
IEC India registration is required for a person engaged in exporting or importing goods. It is a 10-digit code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with lifetime validity. All businesses involved in the import and export of goods must register for an Import Export Code (IEC). Importers cannot proceed without this code, and exporters cannot avail benefits from DGFT, customs, Export Promotion Council, etc., without it.
Documents Required for IEC India:
- Copy of PAN card and Aadhar Card
- Passport Size Photo (for Proprietorship)
- Preliminary Documents:
- Partnership Deed (for Partnership)
- MOA & AOA (for Company)
- Details, Identity, and Address proof of Directors/Partners.
- Registered Office Address Proof:
- Rental/Lease Agreement
- Utility Bills
- NOC
- Bank Account details:
- Cancelled Cheque/Bank Statement
- Authorization Letter (for entities other than Sole Proprietorship)
Process of IEC India:
- Fill the Application Aayaat Niryaat Form 2A as per the prescribed format from DGFT.
- Attach the required documents.
- Pay the Fee and Verify it.
- Finally, submit the application after preview.
General FAQ – IEC India:
- What is the Fee for IEC Application?
- The applicant has to pay Rs. 500 as a fee, and it is valid for a lifetime.
- Can any Import/Export be made without IEC?
- No, IEC India is mandatory for making Imports or Exports of Goods or Services. Non-compliance will result in penalties.
- How many IECs can be generated on 1 PAN card?
- Only one IEC number is issued against a single PAN number. Any proprietor can have only one IEC number, and if there are more than one IECs allotted to a proprietor, the same may be surrendered to the Regional Office for cancellation.
- How much time does it take to generate IEC?
- Normally, it takes 2 working days for processing, and for cancellation, it takes 15 working days.
